Our ever-growing community has added 21 new developments since we last checked out what’s coming soon. Ready to try out snow cream tea or shop curated vintage wares? Keep your eyes peeled for these emerging businesses in the KC area.

Every time we look around, it seems like something new is popping up in Kansas City. Whether you’re looking for your next go-to brunch destination or a new public park to stretch your legs, we’re rounding up a few things coming soon to the City of Fountains.

Yoli Loncheria, 1668 Jefferson St., KCMO | Fall 2024 | Retail shop Yoli Tortilleria is being rebirthed as a restaurant with a masa-centric menu that rotates out dishes like pupusas and burritos.

Tacos Borrachos, 10049 W. 87th St., Overland Park, KS | Fall 2024 | This Mexican eatery will dish out a variety of street tacos using house-made tortillas, and feature a full salsa bar.

Quaint,15995 S. Bradley Dr., | Fall 2024 | This new cocktail bar will serve drinks made from spirits like bourbon + rum.

Chicken Salad Chick, multiple locations | 2025 | The biz plans to open five restaurants across the KC metro, with the first opening in 2025. Soon, you can wet your beak on a variety of imaginative chicken salads, soups, and sandwiches.

Buck O’Neil Bridge, US Highway 169 | December 2024 | We’re in the home stretch with this long-running construction project, with city leaders recently honoring its namesake ahead of opening.

Rock Island Bridge, 1799 American Royal Dr., KCMO| Spring 2025 | The much-anticipated entertainment district aims to host dining, bars, coffee shops, and trailhead services 60 ft above the Kansas River.

Ricochet, 18th and Grand Streets, KCMO | Early 2025 | The 11,000-sqft development will transform a portion of the iconic KC star building into a gaming oasis filled with fun like ping-pong, bumper pool, Skee-Ball, and shuffleboard.

Taste Buds Kitchen, 8085 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS | Early 2025 | This husband-and-wife-led cooking class biz lets you test your culinary prowess, offering classes like Fresh Handmade Pasta and Havana Night.

Atlas9, 9700 State Ave., KCK | Summer 2025 | Move over, Meow Wolf. Built by KC’s own Dimensional Innovations, this immersive Meow Wolf-like world of story-driven art will feature multiple interactive rooms.

Topgolf, near 94th Street and State Avenue, KCK | Summer 2026 | Better start practicing your swing now. As its second location in the metro, the driving range will be two stories and feature 60 bays.

Mattel Adventure Park, Bonner Springs, KS | 2026 | Come on Barbie, let’s go party. Slated to open in 2026, this theme park will host attractions featuring all of toy maker Mattel’s greatest hits, like a Barbie dream house and a Hot Wheels roller coaster.

Lumi Neon Museum, Pennway Point, KCMO | TBD | This nonprofit will display KC history through its collection of vintage neon signs.

Unnamed Olathe Gateway project, Olathe, KS | TBD | The Hunt family’s latest not-so-secret project is an entertainment hub that will be built accessible-first. Its highlights include a sensory village, eight restaurant buildings, and an outdoor skating rink.

LiveNation Amphitheater, Riverside, MO | TBD | A 15,000 seat project is moving forward after the Riverside Board of Alderman has given the go ahead, granting $120 million in bonds — lengthening our hefty list of KC’s live music venues.

Flower Tea, 7699 W. 151st St. Overland Park, KS | This one’s for the tea lovers — Get a taste of snow cream tea sipped from a bamboo shoot, or try one of its many other offerings like a coconut green tea latte, boba, or duck tea.

Kon Tiki + Conchita, 1922 Baltimore Ave., KCMO | It’s a modern tiki bar paired with a taco shop — a match made in heaven, if you ask us.

Mineral Lounge, 17th and Broadway, KCMO | From the minds behind Tannin Wine Bar, this laid back lounge serves Mediterranean-style small-sized bites alongside wine, cocktails + beer.

Meddys, multiple locations | The Mediterranean-style restaurant opened two new spots: one at 8810 Maurer Rd., Lenexa, KS and another at 6301 Brookside Pl., KCMO.

Triune, 1656 Washington St., KCMO |The 2,300-sqft space features a large patio and American fusion menu, touting items like coffee-rubbed short ribs with an espresso orange demi-glace.

Frannie Franks Coffee Cakes, 11828 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS | The OP Farmers Market fave, known for personal-pan sweets, has opened its second metro location.

Dos Tequilas, 12200 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS | Started by a father-daughter duo, the restaurant serves classic Mexican cuisine alongside its signature coffees which are mixed with house-made rum.

Betty Rae’s, 5740 Antioch Rd., Merriam, KS | The new location features a test kitchen which experiments with more off-the-wall flavors.

Varsity Club + Disco Burger, 317 Delaware St., KCMO | This laid-back cocktail lounge serves as a permanent location for the popular smash burger pop-up.

Sushi Kodawari, 2100 Central St., KCMO | Kansas City’s first omakase-style sushi restaurant features just eight seats, and no set menu.

Carne Diem, 4179 N. Mulbery Dr., KCMO | This butcher and seafood counter offers gourmet grab-and-go meal kits, deli selections, and cooking workshops.

Night Goat, 2139 Summit St., KCMO | Located in the basement of Fox & Pearl, this weekly barbecue pop-up is open Thursday nights.

Jars by Fabio Viviani, 4937 W. 119th St., Overland Park, KS | The two-time “Top Chef” contestant opened his metro location for his single-serving jar dessert concept.

Rex Vintage, 1420 W. 13th Ter., KCMO | Brothers Thomas and Reade Rex moved the store from the Westside to make space for its massive crowds.

PGA Tour Superstore, 6621 W. 119th St. Overland Park, KS | The new golf store features apparel, accessories, and even offers a few lessons so you can hopefully have a better swing than us.

Brooks Fine Jeweler, 8221 Corinth Mall, Prairie Village, KS | Now when you’re ready to say “I do” you can stop by for a locally-made engagement ring. Or, if you need to say “I’m sorry,” opt for a tennis bracelet.

Hammers Dueling Piano Bar, 3901 Main St., KCMO | The newly opened spot hits all the right notes: Epic music and signature drinks, all just steps away from the soon-to-be streetcar extension.

Larks Entertainment, 1527 W. 9th St., KCMO | Get your grub then pop over for a push on the shuffleboard, or enjoy playing games in the “Larkade.”

Activate Kansas City, 6900 W. 119th St., Overland Park, KS | Get ready to try different “active gaming experience” rooms — think laser grids + the floor is lava.
