If Kansas Citians know one thing, it’s how to have a good time.

The next stop on our journey to answer 22 questions this year: Reader Anne S. wants to know our picks for local live music. There’s a lot to choose from, so we’re streaming KC-specific.

So, silence your cellphones. The show is about to begin.

The Ship, 1221 Union Ave. | Stop by this local restaurant, cocktail bar, and live music venue to have a cruising time. Sail to the beat of live music varying from rock to Latin music.

The Blue Room, 1600 E. 18th St. | A club with rich history, this spot features local and national jazz artists performing snazzy tunes on Mon. + Thurs.-Sat. evenings.

Green Lady Lounge, 1809 Grand Blvd., | Ya like jazz? With sister lounge Black Dolphin located right beside it, Grand Blvd. is KC’s own Frenchmen Street.

Corvino Supper Club and Tasting Room, 1830 Walnut St. | Shareable plates and tasty cocktails come with a side of live music.

The Levee, 16 W. 43rd St. | Nestled between the Country Club Plaza and Old Westport, you’re bound to find people of all ages grooving to the music here… and you won’t want to Levee.

Knuckleheads Saloon, 2715 Rochester Ave. | With five different indoor and outdoor stages, there’s definitely something for everyone. The Gospel Lounge stage also holds music-oriented church on Wednesday evenings.

Howl at the Moon, 1334 Grand Blvd. | Branded as a “Part Bar. Part Concert. All Fun,” you’ll want to celebrate special occasions in this Power and Light piano bar.

The Phoenix, 302 W. 8th St. | Known as one of the oldest jazz + blues clubs in KC, stop in for live jazz brunch on the weekends.

We hope you have your dancing shoes ready to groove to some live music. If you have recommendations on other spots to visit, let us know.
