Sail Away Wine is seeking supertasters to compete in its annual Sommelier Showdown. Now through Sunday, Jan. 28, stop by 309 Armor Rd., NKC, MO and enter the tournament for $15.

How it works

Casual connoisseurs will do a blind taste test of one glass of wine, then they’ll have three minutes to fill out a questionnaire about the wine’s color, flavor + style.

After the initial tournament closes, the top 32 wine wizards will face off until only four remain. Those four finalists will compete on Wednesday, March 6 at 6 p.m. Second place will receive $300, while the first place winner will walk away with a $1,000 cash prize + the title of Kansas City’s Sage of Wine 2024.

All entry fees will be matched by Sail Away Wine + donated to Hope House, a local domestic violence shelter.
