The Berkley Riverfront is seeing one of the largest transformations in Kansas City history. From the KC Current stadium to a new beer garden — the area is going to be a must-see destination for tourists and locals alike.

Earlier this summer, Port KC and KC Current announced a collaborative 10-year plan for the neighborhood, with hopes to make it a high-density and walkable community. Next, the Port KC board of commissioners will vote on bond approval, adding up to $800 million in bonds.

Let’s take a look at elements of the future 10.17-acre development, neighboring projects, and when you can expect completion dates.

History in the making

The Kansas City Current is working on final stages of its brand new stadium come 2024. Next steps include pitch installation, concessions, and installing the supporter section. This is the first women’s-purposed stadium in the world. Mic drop. Plus, a new “game day street” is detailed in the possible development with Port KC.

Cheers to beer

What better way to drink craft beer than with a waterfront view? Meet: Berkley Beer Garden. The 8,200-sqft spot will offer outdoor food and entertainment options, featuring two-stories and an open structure. It anticipates a 2024 opening.

A place to stay

Origin KC is a $30 million, five-story boutique hotel coming to the Riverfront. The hotel chain is known to pay homage to its unique locations. Keeping form, the Riverfront property will have designs and amenities that “reflect the heart of Kansas City.” The hotel opens March 2024.

Ride to the Riverfront

All aboard the KC Streetcar. The free public transportation option is expanding to serve KC Current fans + Riverfront tourists alike. The route will be complete in 2025.
