We sprinkled some knowledge about Fountain Day in your inbox earlier this week, but it left reader George S. with a question: When did KC build its last fountain?

After scouring the city’s preeminent authority on all things waterworks, it appears the two latest were both made in 2009: Kids at Heart Fountain + Parkway Towers Fountain .

Lee’s Summit’s Kids at Heart Fountain was the city’s first public art installation and features a bronze sculpture by Kansas City artist Kwan Wu. Plaza condo complex Parkway Tower’s signature display can sum up its origin story in two words: renovation project.

After 15 years, we think it might be time to up the city’s water feature portfolio. Have an idea for the next great KC fountain? Drop us a line.
