Dry your eyes, KC. If it makes you feel any better, we couldn’t afford the ~$10,000 trip to Super Bowl LVIII either... okay, maybe you can cry a little.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of our system, it’s time to nail down those weekend plans. Here’s all you need to know to find the best screens this Sunday, Feb. 11.

Our watch party lineup

  • Bar K | 12 p.m. | 501 Berkley Pkwy., KCMO | $0-10+ | Two-legged fans and furry friends are invited to this tail-gate party, with $3 off mastiff mimosas.
  • DoubleTap KC | 3 p.m. | 310 Oak St., KCMO | Menu Prices or Reservations, $200-250 | Smoked wings + loads of game day specials make this screen-heavy hot spot one of our Super Bowl picks.
  • Bar Stilwell | 12 p.m. | 1515 Wyandotte St., KCMO | Menu Price | Sip on “The French Blonde” while you scope out the big screens for any T. Swift sightings.
  • Crossroads Hotel | 12 p.m.-12 a.m. | 2101 Central St., KCMO | Menu prices | Make it a dream game day with this Chiefs giveaway, featuring a private 11-person watch party in the Pendergast Suite with bites + bevs to boot. The winner will be announced Friday, Feb. 9.

A couch kinda comfort

For anyone hosting an at-home viewing of the big game, be sure to tune in on CBS, stream it via Paramount+ or watch a slightly slimier version on Nickelodeon.

Now huddle up, team — it’s time for your Sunday snack options:

Downtown KCK lands spot on historic registry

No matter what side of the river you’re on, it’s always a good day to be a Kansas Citian. This week though, it’s KCK all the way.

Downtown Kansas City, KS just earned itself a spot on the Register of Historic Kansas Places, a designation that carries more than just bragging rights.

New tax credits for the 117 buildings/sites within the commercial district means a possible revitalization of its urban core.

But the good news doesn’t stop there. KCK is now awaiting consideration from the National Parks Service for its National Register of Historic Places. A federal designation means even more of our favorite thing... beautiful, beautiful tax credits. Ahhh.

Reminder: Your beau will be expecting more than just a Chiefs parade on Wednesday, Feb. 14.

Still need to find a gift? Chocolate + flowers would do just fine for ~ 26.7% of our readers, but the other half has some better ideas...

“A new barrel horse.” — Ruth M.

“I’ll take a case of Diet Coke and some peanut M&Ms!” — Judy K.

“Month-long trip to England.” — Dana R.

“One million dollars.” — Charm M. (Wait a minute...that name looks familar.)

If you aren’t already, hold on to your wallets. The No. 1 answer, ~40% of readers said: “Chiefs Season Tickets — I would say Super Bowl tix, but no one loves me that much.”

From the editor
I’ll get an early start Sunday with an 11 a.m. arrival at KC Live! for the city’s biggest block party (or so I’ve been told). Tips for spotting a City Editor in the wild: see a girl in a bright yellow hoodie waving her phone around to make Insta reels? It’s probably me, so please come say “hi.”
