City Editor Bella reporting for duty. Y’all know I love astrology — almost as much as I love Kansas City. Last time, we saw which zodiac signs pair best with different neighborhoods in KC. Today, we’re seeing which iconic KC sights, icons, and landmarks resonate with each of the zodiac signs.
Taurus: Union Station | April 20-May 20
This sign is known for being reliable and trustworthy, true pillars of what Union Station means to Kansas City. Throughout the years, hardships, and triumphs, Union Station has stayed an important fixture of the metro area.
Gemini: State Line Road | May 21-June 20
The extroverted tendencies of a Gemini allows them to mesh well with different types of people — in this case, Kansans and Missourians. Living in a bi-state metro (joined together with State Line Road) makes Kansas City even stronger, bringing together all walks of life, just like a Gemini.
Cancer: Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden| June 21-July 22
The sentimental + gentle characteristics of a Cancer makes this pairing picture perfect. This serene environment brings a sense of emotion and nostalgia — all things that make a Cancer’s heart grow.
A Leo is not afraid to let their presence be known, and neither is the beautiful Kauffman Center. From its bold architecture to the impressive performances happening inside, the Kauffman Center embodies the behavior of a Leo.
Virgo: Power & Light Building | Aug. 23-Sept. 22
This historic building on Kansas City’s skyline is both practical like a Virgo, but also intricate, detailed, and focused like one. Virgos love to plan and execute well, and the Power & Light Building’s resilience over several decades aligns perfectly with the earth sign.

Sports
Better late than never. Sporting Kansas City brought home their first win of the season this weekend at Seattle with a 2-1 finish. It is also the team’s first multi-goal game of the season. Sporting’s next match is on Wednesday, May 10 with a trip to rivals Houston Dynamo FC.
The Kansas City Royals acquired right-handed pitcher James McArthur from the Philadelphia Phillies yesterday. McArthur will be optioned to Triple-A Omaha.
Eat
The Tenderloin Grill moved to the City Market after operating at 900 Southwest Boulevard for 90 years. The eatery was acquired by Minksy’s after temporarily closing in 2021. Now, Tenderloin Grill is up and running again, offering signature sandwiches at 25 E. 3rd St., KCMO. (CityScene KC)

A special birthday. The KC Streetcar celebrated seven years serving Kansas City this weekend on Saturday, May 6. In the last seven years, the Streetcar system has stayed busy, completing 11,782,680 passenger trips. We’re celebrating by admiring the Main Street Extension construction progress.

A cancer diagnosis can bring many questions along with it, including “What is the best treatment plan for me?” or, “Am I doing everything I can for my condition?” Another question to consider: “Should I get a second opinion?” The experts at The University of Kansas Cancer Center explain the value of getting a second opinion during your cancer journey.*
Kids
Two words: free bowling. Sign up for Kids Bowl Free to connect with local bowling alleys where kids can receive two free games of bowling everyday this summer. Plus, grab a Family Pass + up to four adults can join in on the fun.

KCtoday May book club: “Class Mom” by Laurie Gelman
The weather is warming up, and the patio is calling our name for a good read. Thankfully, we have a new book club recommendation from Janine Kluckhohn — a local book influencer known as @downtogetthefictionon.
“‘Class Mom’ by Laurie Gelman is a hilarious and relatable book for anyone who’s been involved, by choice or by force, in a child’s school, sports, or any other activity.
Jen Dixon beats to the sound of her own drum. Jen’s a veteran Overland Park, Kansas mom who’s back at it for round two of parenting. She’s been around the PTA before, but this time, she’s more experienced and not afraid to tell it like it is! While this approach doesn’t always end up winning over lots of new friends, it may just win her the uncovered (and at times unwanted) title of PTA President.”
Did you know you can go to a Royals game for $10 per person? The Royals offer a Score 4 Pack for just $40 that gets you four tickets, four hot dogs, four value sodas, and a parking pass.
Last night, I gathered three of my best friends and headed to Kauffman Stadium. I spent a little bit more than $10 though — I can’t resist Dippin’ Dots.
