A new restaurant is taking flight in Westport — and it’s showing off its colors ahead of opening. The Peacock promises whimsy, intimacy, and delicious food + cocktails. Here’s a look inside.

The menu 🦚

Take your tastebuds on a journey. Food options will represent cultures across the globe, including Thai, African, and Middle Eastern concepts.

The Peri Peri Chicken uses flavors from Mozambique combined with basmati rice, mushrooms, cranberry, charred greens, and Chamoy butter. FYI — peri peri comes from “pepper pepper” in Swahili.

Class up your meal with a craft cocktail, like their ginger fizz — with basil-infused simple syrup — or the white chocolate raspberry mocha martini. Then, dig into desserts, like pecan oatmeal cookie pie or triple chocolate ice cream with an espresso hard shell.

The space 🦚

The Peacock is opening inside 301 Westport Rd., Kansas City, MO. The “intimate” space is only 800 sqftabout the size of an average one bedroom apartment — with room for ~48 people.

“The interior is very bright and fun with lots of color and patterns. The vibe is whimsical, comfortable, and playfully sophisticated.” — Allyson Brunner, Page Communications

The restaurant is owned by Jeffrey Schmitz and Gene Switzer, who currently own and operate Bistro 303 next-door. Chef Brian Mehl previously opened Plate in Brookside and The Pressed Penny Tavern in Westport.

The visit 🦚

There isn’t an official opening date yet. However, The Peacock is coming this fall, and management is fairly confident it will be late November.

Once open, hours will be as follows:

  • Tuesday-Thursday, 4-10 p.m.
  • Friday-Saturday, 4-11 p.m.
  • Closed Sunday-Monday

Happy hour will be Tuesday-Saturday from 4-6 p.m. It will feature $7 small plates.

NOTE: A previous version of this story said The Peacock would open at 5 p.m. based on a news release from the company. This was later corrected to 4 p.m.
