When it comes to exciting news, the KC Current train doesn’t stop. Yesterday, the team revealed the naming sponsor for its stadium: railroad company Canadian Pacific Kansas City Limited (CPKC). This makes the women’s soccer team’s new home the CPKC Stadium.

The sponsorship deal will last 10 years and also includes the outdoor plaza adjacent to the stadium, now called the CPKC Plaza.

The plaza will serve as a gathering space, a spot to sell KC Current Merchandise, and a spot for sporting events + concerts. Yup, that’s right — Kansas City is getting another large concert venue.

CPKC is headquartered right here in the Heartland and has been chugging along since April 2023 after Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern railways merged.

As a part of its partnership, CPKC is joining the Current’s community initiatives, starting with East High School. The railroad company will help the school’s Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) lab get on track with renovations throughout the rest of 2023.

CPKC Stadium is pushing full steam ahead toward a spring 2024 opening — just in time for the KC Current’s 2024 season.

The team already sold out nine sections for its 2024 season. Remaining season tickets start at $700.
