Teal is definitely our color.

In case you haven’t noticed a bright blue Bond Bridge, Union Station’s new kit, the latest streetcar wrap, or even KC Joe’s not-so-subtle nodteal has taken over the city.

KC Current’s home opener against the Portland Thorns on Saturday, March 16 at 12 p.m. is set to be a historic match.

Want the tea on the teal tide rolling in this weekend? We’ve got all the tips you need from parking and partying to merch and concessions.

Parking + transit

The first-ever stadium built for women’s professional sports has all the bells and whistles... but not a lotta parking. Those who snagged (sold out) season tickets got first dibs on season-long parking passes — everyone else can purchase single-game passes, which go for $50 a pop.

Have a pass and want to party? Sorry to break the news, but there’s absolutely no tailgating allowed. (Keep reading for our workaround)

No pass, no problem:

  • Take the streetcar — The Berkley Riverfront extension is under works, but KC Current will “cover the last stretch” if you ride to the Rivermarket.
  • Off-site parking — Drop your car off in one of downtown’s pay-to-park garages, surface lots, or street parking to cut your travel in half.
  • Walk — Here’s your chance, party people. Join the Downtown Neighborhood Association’s walking tailgate across the Town of Kansas Bridge. More stationary fans can join the KC Blue Crew for their Block 15 Tealgate.
  • Bike — Cyclists can rest easy knowing CPKC has free bike valet.
  • Rideshare — Dedicated rideshare lanes make game-day travel an easy lyft.

Get your merch

Show up to the pitch without a stitch of teal? First of all, get off the grass and second, head to the north side of CPKC Plaza for the Team Store.

You can get your own customized kit or shop for something by local brands like Charlie Hustle, Made Mobb, Nickel & Suede, Sandlot Goods, and Cherry Co.

Order online and pick it up in store using a contact-less locker system, or stop in for some casual browsing (and free parking) on non-match days.

Food + beverages

Loyal readers already know — we might be most excited about this.

  • Billie’s Grocery
  • Yoli Tortilleria
  • Local Pig
  • Waldo Thai
  • Martin City Brewing Co.
  • Room 39
  • Boulevard Brewing Co.

Any fan who can’t make the first game shouldn’t feel too bad, (Editor Maddie is in the same sad boat) because you can watch the match on ABC, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ or listen in on KC Current Radio. Join the Current Club for fan-fave perks and a chance to snag single game tickets.
