KC is the (unofficial) city of dogs, but cats aren’t just rolling over. You can find hardworking felines in cat cafés across the metro, filling orders for a latte scritches — with whole milk only, no substitutes please.

Stop in these cafés to work from your laptop while enlisting furry lap warmers as coworkers. Good news: all these shops feature adoptable cats, so the paw-ty doesn’t have to stop when you leave.

Espurresso Cat Café

This is arguably the most purr-fect place on the list (due to its name). Enjoy coffee, tea, and baked goods before meeting cats from the Lawrence Humane Society.

Second Cup Cat Café

417 N. Rawhide Suite F., Olathe, KS | $15 per 60 minutes

An extension of Melissa’s Second Chance rescue, have a cuppa before pawing at potential new companions. All entry fees go toward the rescues each cat hails from. Pro tip: Visit on Tuesdays and enjoy 50% off your reservation.

Sugar Kittens

Meow open in both Liberty and Lee’s Summit, kitties get to live out their biscuit-making dreams at this bakery. During your visit, feast on cookies from the “Fat and Weird” collection like the Material Girl, a marshmallow + unicorn bark-based bite.
