Answered
Earlier this week, we asked “The Plaza was the first suburban shopping center built for ____ ?”
There’s no year on this Plaza pic, any guesses? | Photo via MVSC
And boy, did we trip you up. The historic shopping center was made with automobiles in mind, not pedestrians like 43% of participants guessed.
We’re starting to sense a pattern here. After sharing Monday’s news with our Instagram followers, foot traffic was top of mind + top of their wish lists too:
“Shut down at least part of it to be pedestrian only!!!” — @bellamaerainey(IYKYK)
“More pedestrian-friendly streets, local restaurants, more dense housing.” — @thecoxie
“A pedestrian street, more unique shops, less big box, street vendors, live outdoor music.” — @amysue2
“Pedestrian street in the center. Public restrooms!” — @kmcdds88
“Pedestrian only spaces!!! Road diets!! It should be a place to drive TO, not through. Especially with the streetcar opening in the next year or so.” — @glenn.brammeier
