Outdoors

Sports
Now batting: West Bottoms
Rendering: Royals crown the West Bottoms with stadium
Looks like the crown is back in play. | Rendering by Manica
The Royals have been hunting for a new stadium spot and batter up, West Bottoms, it’s your turn at the plate.
After Gov. Kelly signed a bill (see our News Notes) allowing the Chiefs and the Royals to use STAR bond funds for building stadiums in Kansas, a new rendering was released.
The new stadium would be nestled near the Kansas River — next to I-670 and State Line Road in the West Bottoms — and would carry the same dimensions as the current K.
The right field fence is aligned to run across the Kansas-Missouri state line, meaning a batter could literally hit one out of the park and out of the state. And, most importantly, the beloved Crown scoreboard + fountains which were missing from previous renderings are now front and center.
Built to frame the KC skyline, the ballpark district would also feature:
I’m most excited for The Horseshoe. This will probably shock you but I absolutely love line dancing while wearing my cowboy hat. Having a spot closer to me is going to be awesome.
Also, I hope they invite Tanner Adele and she performs “Buckle Bunny.” My life would be complete.
