KC Current’s home opener against the Portland Thorns on Saturday, March 16 at 12 p.m. is set to be a historic match.
Want the tea on the teal tide rolling in this weekend? We’ve got all the tips you need from parking and partying to merch and concessions.
Parking + transit
The first-ever stadium built for women’s professional sports has all the bells and whistles... but not a lotta parking. Those who snagged (sold out) season tickets got first dibs on season-long parking passes — everyone else can purchase single-game passes, which go for $50 a pop.
Have a pass and want to party? Sorry to break the news, but there’s absolutely no tailgating allowed. (Keep reading for our workaround)
No pass, no problem:
Take the streetcar — The Berkley Riverfront extension is under works, but KC Current will “cover the last stretch” if you ride to the Rivermarket.
Off-site parking — Drop your car off in one of downtown’s pay-to-park garages, surface lots, or street parking to cut your travel in half.
Walk — Here’s your chance, party people. Join the Downtown Neighborhood Association’s walking tailgate across the Town of Kansas Bridge. More stationary fans can join the KC Blue Crew for their Block 15 Tealgate.
Bike — Cyclists can rest easy knowing CPKC has free bike valet.
Rideshare — Dedicated rideshare lanes make game-day travel an easy lyft.

What’s your favorite coffee in Kansas City? | Graphic by 6AM City
Welcome back to our KCtoday coffee shop bracket, where we’re asking you to determine the best coffee shop in Kansas City.
After our initial round of votes, we’re down to four “teams” left:
Black Dog Coffeehouse and Messenger on Grand | These beans belong to the same family, but the vibes are entirely different. Settle in for a cozy cup at Black Dog’s homey digs or take in the cityscape skyline at Messenger’s three-story Grand Avenue spot.
Café Corazón and Oddly Correct | Café Corazón is a Latino + Indigenous family-owned business known for local roasts and yerba mate, while Oddly Correct’s out-of-the-box coffee creations are known to stir up otherwise normal mornings.
Ready to decide who moves on to the final two in our bracket? Cast your vote below.
Flower pots, solar lights, or lemon trees in QVC’s garden deals. “Love your garden” items are on sale until Thursday, March 28, meaning it’s the perfect time to start dreaming up this year’s outdoor spaces.
There are perks that come with being the tiny face at the bottom of a newsletter. One of those perks? Getting to stop by the broadcasters booth at my first KC Comets game, thanks to reader (and color commentator) Erik B.
