This is the perfect weekend trip to Kansas City according to AI
So beautiful that it makes you want to howl. | Photo by @kansasdroneguy
What would you see on a perfect trip through KC? That answer undoubtedly shifts from person to person — but what about from robot to robot?
We asked an AI called WonderPlan what the perfect weekend trip to Kansas City, MO would be, and here’s the itinerary it generated.
To get this list, we selected that we would stay for a three-day weekend, had a moderate budget, and wanted to sight-see with friends.
Spoiler alert: We were actually surprised with the variety of experiences it recommended.
Day One
Start your day at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Afterward, bounce down the street for shopping and dining at the Country Club Plaza.
Fun Fact: Many of the Plaza buildings are replicas of those in KC’s sister city, Seville, Spain. That includes the iconic Giralda tower which is an exact one-half-scaled replica of Seville’s.
After you’ve perused the Plaza, end your day partying in the Power and Light District.
Day Two
Leisurely stroll through Loose Park, then get in line at Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que. Pro tip: Don’t go during the lunch rush. After you’ve filled your belly, make your way to Boulevard Brewing Company for a drink, a tour, and a session on the Rec Dec.
Shuffle on up to the Tours & Rec Center top floor.

Day Three
After two nights of partying hard, the AI programmed in time to treat yoself. Relax at the Spa on Penn, which offers everything from deep tissue massages to laser hair removal.
After your pampering, it’s time to hang out in Westport. We (KCtoday, not AI) recommend you visit all the shops and restaurants along 39th Street.
Finish your last day with a moving live performance at the Kauffman Center of Performing Arts. City Editor Charmaine attended a show recently and had a blast.
Grammy-award winning jazz singer Gregory Porter performed in the acoustically-balanced theater.

The itinerary was slightly different when we input Kansas City, KS as the destination. It substituted in visiting Worlds of Fun, taking the Kansas City BBQ Tour, and taking a tour of the Kauffman Stadium.
