Put your records on at Manor Records’ new West Bottoms location

‘Twas the night before opening. Manor Records is gearing up to open its new location in the West Bottoms on Friday, Oct. 20.

We’re dropping the needle on everything you need to know about the new spot + its grand opening.

👀 What to expect

Manor Records is offering a brick-and-mortar storefront, selling vinyl, CDs, and cassettes with a local focus — right up our alley. All profits from this record store get donated to the non-profit Manor Records Fund that helps financially support local musicians’ physical releases.

The record shop is also planning events and live music opportunities in the basement — including weekly songbird sessions throughout November.

You can check out all of this local music fun beneath the main floor of the 12th Street Post, a spot home to 80+ other Kansas City businesses like West Bottoms Plant Company and Untamed Supply.

📍The West Bottoms way

Fun Fact: Manor Records began in a basement in Shawnee, KS. So, Editor Bella had to know — why open in the West Bottoms?

“The West Bottoms has always been a special place in my heart. Some of our first events were at the original Blip Roasters location. I ran shows at Voltaire for a few years before Lemonade Park was even thought of, and we host a night of Manor Fest there every year,” founder Shawn Crowley told us.

“I was talking to a friend on the Historic West Bottoms Committee and they said, ‘The West Bottoms wants Manor Records here’ and that was enough for me.”

$1,800. That’s the average cost of groceries Americans throw away each year.

Did that make you cringe? This will help: Kansas City Food Wise offers resources to help combat food waste in our community, from increasing access to healthy food to building a sustainable food system that benefits us, our community + the planet.

Both individuals and organizations can utilize Food Wise’s tools to learn how to plan, prepare, and share food in order to cut down on waste — and keep more money in your wallet. We like the sound of that. Here’s a peek at how it works:
