News Notes
Development
  • Lenexa City Council unanimously approved plans to redevelop an old Bank of America building (12345 W. 95th St.) into a money-themed event space called The Mint. The space will host ~350 guests for weddings and other events. (Shawnee Mission Post)

  • It’s Eras Tour season. In preparation for Taylor Swift’s KC tour stops Friday, July 7-Saturday, July 8, North Kansas City mayor Bryant DeLong announced that that Swift Street is temporarily Swift Street (Taylor’s Version) — with an honorary Cornelia Street the other direction.

  • Jurassic Park or Independence? A couple in Independence are selling a 10-ft-tall T-Rex that once belonged to a Worlds of Fun exhibit. The sellers are asking $1,000 for the 750-lb dino. (Kansas City Star)
Traffic
  • Mission Road — from 67th Street to Tomahawk Road — in Prairie Village closes today for the rest of summer. The closure allows crews to work on a $3.95 million flood control project. This plan will also restore Brush Creek and remove the parking lot at Schliffke Park. (Shawnee Mission Post)
Wellness
  • Thinning hair? You’re not alone. This No. 1 dermatologist-recommended hair growth supplement brand is physician-formulated with science-backed ingredients to target root causes of thinning for faster-growing, visibly thicker hair. (Pro tip: This five-minute quiz will help you get to the root of your thinning.)*

👋 Welcome back, Corinthian Hall

The Kansas City Museum is officially reopening Corinthian Hall in July

After an HVAC malfunction caused water damages in January, the Kansas City Museum’s Corinthian Hall is opening back up to the public on Thursday, July 6.

The Kansas City Museum Foundation, City of KCMO, and JE Dunn Construction quickly began damage restorations + HVAC repairs — necessary for precise temperature and humidity control for the preservation of artifacts and historic buildings on the property. No damage was done to collection materials, and repairs have been made to the ceilings, floors, and electrical + mechanical systems.

The Kansas City Museum is located at 3218 Gladstone Blvd., KCMO in the Historic Northeast neighborhood. The museum is comprised of five original buildings, including the mansion, Corinthian Hall, built in 1910 by Robert Alexander Long. The estate became a public museum in 1940. The museum strives to preserve, interpret, and celebrate KC through collections, exhibitions, and programs that engage visitors in unfolding stories about the city’s vibrant history, cultural heritage, and pride.

From the editor
While I sadly am not going to be in attendance, I am so excited to see Kansas City transform for Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” over the next couple weeks. As a huge Swiftie (and someone who has seen this tour already) y’all are in for a treat.

Check out what North Kansas City did to prepare.
