Hey KC, Skylar + Travis here. Between the two of us, we get the privilege of sharing the news with 4,000+ readers in Kansas City daily — both through our newsletter + social feeds.

However, we haven’t actually introduced ourselves to you yet. Consider this our convo over coffee. Our internet introduction — no Zoom link required. 🤝

Meet Skylar 👋

Q: You’re taking someone on a date in KC. Where are you going?

A: We would head to Nelson-Atkins and enjoy a very Instagrammable picnic on the lawn. I’m talking fresh flowers from Trader Joe’s, all the vibey pillows + blankets from Home Goods, and milkshakes from Creative Culture.

Q: If you could only write about one KC-specific topic for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: I’m obsessed with all things fashion. I’m thrilled to cover the KC Fashion Show. When I’m not working, you can catch me at any local boutique in search of the best outfit for my next outing.

Q: What were the last 3 things you did downtown?

A: I saw LANCO at Hot Country Nights, got dinner on the patio at Brick House, and visited HITIDE COFFEE.

PS: It’s my birthday today, Aug. 11.

Meet Travis 👋

Q: You’re taking someone on a date in KC. Where are you going?

A: I love to bop around to local breweries with my girlfriend, Sarah, and our Mini Aussie, Ollie. An ideal date night is finding a patio + rating a new brew on Untappd while the pup lays at our feet. 🐶 #ProTip: Cinder Block in NKC has a great enclosed patio.

Q: Describe your perfect day in KC in the length of a Tweet.

A: Wake up with a cold brew from Oddly + a breakfast sammie from Mildred’s. Head to WyCo Lake for mountain biking. End the night over drinks with family + friends.

Q: Describe KC’s personality in three words.

A: 1. Eclectic — Kansas City’s neighborhoods have super diverse personalities. From the Crossroads to Waldo + beyond, KC has a little of everything. 2. Accessible — The people in the metro have no pretense, and everything is a 30-minute drive or less. 3. Proud — People from KC will hype up their hometown, and it’s infectious.

PS: My birthday is one day after Skylar’s on Aug. 12.
