Ever wonder what it would be like to get back on the basketball court or softball field? Or just get those competitive juices flowing one weekend? For those of us who are former athletes, getting to play a beloved sport as we get older can be difficult, right? Wrong.

KC Crew is a local adult sports league + special events company designed for Kansas Citians who love sports, want to build relationships in the community, compete while having fun — and maybe share a drink or two after a game.

Bonus: It’s not just for athletes. If you’ve got a group of active friends or neighbors looking for different types of competition, KC Crew offers a variety of events (think: murder mystery parties, adult field day, and even corporate team building activities) to get folks out into the community with some fun, friendly competition.

Looking for something different to do this summer? Here’s how to get involved in some of KC Crew’s upcoming events + leagues:

Adult Field Day

Adult Field Day is a throwback to grade school, but for adults. (Yes, booze will be involved.) On Sat., May 21 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., teams of seven to ten players (at least three must be female) will gather at Rockhurst University (1100 Rockhurst Rd.) to compete.

This event is packed with exciting events including water games, giant Jenga, and classic relays with a twist. At the end of the day, the team with the most points will be crowned Champs of the Field. Registration ($400 per team) is still open.

KC Crew is partnering with Coors Light to see which Kansas City neighborhood is the King of the Chill. To find out, KC Crew is hosting King of the Chill leagues in different sports (softball, kickball, sand volleyball, pickleball, and cornhole) in different neighborhoods. Bonus: You might even see City Editor Travis on the court. In recent years, he’s been a part of KC Crew’s sand volleyball league.

One team from each neighborhood will compete in each sport. Coors Light will also provide giveaway swag, raffles, and free Coors Light. At the end of the summer, the team who wins the league will win bragging rights for their neighborhood, plus each player gets two tickets + one parking pass to an exclusive VIP Royals Suite Experience on Sat., Sept. 24. Bonus: Coors Light is graciously covering part of the registration fees for all players. Sign up here.

Summer Leagues

Since the creation of the KC Crew in 2012, 64,100+ people have connected through its sports leagues. Whether you’re looking to stay active, have fun, meet new friends, or bond with the friends you already have, there’s a league out there to fit your needs.

In addition to the sports offered through the King of the Chill leagues, the KC Crew lineup for summer includes golf, basketball, indoor volleyball, futsal + more. Pro tip: Register early. Leagues fill up quickly, and it’s recommended to secure your spot ASAP.

Partnership with the KC Current

Kansas City’s hometown women’s soccer team, the KC Current, is the official sports team of KC Crew. This partnership is another way to help deepen the goal of bringing different Kansas City communities together.
