Recently, we highlighted locally-owned ice cream shops across the KC metro. Y’all loved it so much that you wrote in telling us more local sweet shops that deserved highlighting. Here are the top three recommendations we received.

Coming in at No. 3 is Sweet EMOtion KC (1312 Armour Rd., North Kansas City, MO) which specializes in dairy-free, oat milk soft serve. Flavors rotate every week and are inspired by emo songs + bands.

The No. 2 spot goes to High Hopes Ice Cream (5536 Troost Ave. A, KCMO). It carries all the classic flavors along with some creative renditions like Mango Chamoy, Black Sesame, and Blueberry Lemon Cheesecake.

“We tried High Hopes ice cream the other day and YOU MUST TOO!! It’s such a hidden little gem and has DELICIOUS flavors and texture!!!” — Kenton and SaraAnne

Ice cream so good that it’ll make you do summersaults.

And the No. 1 local ice cream shop we received messages about was Summersalt Ice Cream Co . in Corinth Square (4051 Somerset Dr., Prairie Village, KS).

The three-year-old chef-owned shop centers homemade ice cream and baked goods designed to complement its cold offerings. Plus, it sources ingredients like vanilla locally.
