It’s officially Bookworm Summer here in KC.

Alongside the Kansas City Public Library’s year-long 150th anniversary celebration, the Mid-Continent Library has some exciting news of it own: two new branches.

The East Independence Branch (4505 S. Little Blue Pkwy.) is already open and ready for readers. You can help kick off its big celebration on Friday, June 7, at 9:00 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, music, and refreshments.

Book worms have to wait another week before breaking the spine on Riverside’s new location (4510 NW Gateway Ave.). Opening is slated for Tuesday, June 11 with a party to follow on Friday, June 14.
