It’s “The Jungle Book” IRL. Thorni Ridge Exotics is bringing the herd to West Wyandotte Library — including a baby spider monkey, pig, goat, sheep, and a kangaroo — on June 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The exotic baby animal petting zoo is the latest in the imaginative, free event series provided by the Kansas City, Kansas Public Library.

“We consider what the kids are interested in, and then we try to create programs. Whenever we can, we try to bring in literacy and education,” said West Wyandotte Library youth services supervisor Melissa Sadrakula.

“We encourage families and people of all ages to come in. I think a lot of people don’t realize the great resources we have — and that they’re no cost.”

KCKPL’s summer series has recurring events for the whole family, including Switch Saturdays for playing Nintendo Switch games, and Mini Golf Fridays.
