Let’s be honest — whether you’ve scoped out your neighbor’s Zillow listing or sleuthed through an old Facebook photo album, we all do a little casual snooping.

Enter KCMO’s Parcel Viewer, a city-run website that gives you the scoop on properties all over town. Yes, it’s technically a planning tool. But have you ever passed a mystery construction site and wondered, “What are they building?” Or wanted to know who actually owns that abandoned house on the corner? This is your new go-to for assistance channeling the likes of Hercule Poirot or Jessica Fletcher.

How to play detective

  • Start simple. Type in any address to find out trash day, council district, police patrol zone, school district, HOA info, and more.
  • Curious about Airbnbs on your block? Click “Layers” and select the green house icon to reveal registered short-term rentals.
  • Want to know where your tax dollars are going? Under “Projects,” check the box for “Capital Projects” or open the dedicated viewer to spot planned + on-going work, like the streetcar extensions.

Happy sleuthing, Kansas City. Got a juicy find? Send it our way — we promise to keep your identity classified.
