Longtime readers will remember when Editor Charmaine covered the store without a checkout (the first store in the metro to utilize Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology). Its space in the East Crossroads was just an appetizer. The main course is now being served.

Community Groceries will host a grand opening celebration of its flagship store at 3501 Troost Ave., KCMO on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. At opening, the “Just Walk Out” technology will not be live just yet. Officials plan to add it in 2024.

The store prices items like eggs and flour individually, catering to those that don’t need to buy in bulk. Its special services include nearby grocery deliveries + lifestyle memberships.

Those who attend the grand opening can enter to win:

  • Apple AirPods
  • Beats headphones
  • $200 Best Buy gift card
  • Nintendo Switch
  • PlayStation 5
  • $100 gift cards to Community Groceries
  • Bronze Lifestyle memberships

The first 150 shoppers will receive a free tote bag with two extra raffle tickets.
