We hope you like popcorn. The 28th annual Kansas City FilmFest International kicked off yesterday evening at AMC Ward Parkway 14. The juried exhibition of 100+ local and international films is the biggest curated film festival in KC.

Here’s how it works: Look through the film schedule for a title that suits your fancy — that could be an individual film, or a collection of shorts like “Sci-Fi” and “Horror” — and grab a ticket. Each showing is $10 and takes place at AMC. Meaning, you can roll up to the theater and make a day of it, starting 5:40 p.m. tonight or 12 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Can’t decide? Pick up a Gold Pass for $45 to get all-you-can-watch access to films and entrance into the Filmmakers’ Lounge (so you can rub elbows with your fave cinephiles).

While you’re watching, check out some of the other events happening around the fest, like the Filmmaker Meet & Greet tonight at 4:30 p.m. and the Reel Spirit youth film contest all Saturday.
