They must just feel at home here — trophies I mean.
With the Mavericks cinching the Western Conference title after a 4-2 series win against the Toledo Walleye, the Kelly Cup may be making its way to Kansas City for the first time ever.
How’d we get here?
Since they first rode into town in 2009, Kansas City’s only professional hockey team has been scoring hometown cred... just not a lot of titles. That all changed this year, as the Mavs wrapped up their most successful season yet and became the best team in the ECHL.
We’re not pucking around — their shortlist of accomplishments are anything but short:
- 2024 Brabham Cup Champions
- 2024 Mountain Division Champions
- Set the ECHL record for road wins in one season (29)
- Set the franchise record for points (114)
- Franchise record for goals in a season (305)
And that’s not to mention securing a postseason spot with six weeks left in the regular season. In layman’s terms, the Mavs were fire on the ice.
Now, it’s time to bring it all home as they face off against either the Adirondack Thunder or Florida Everglades for the ultimate title.
Where to watch
Fans who prefer to cheer from the comfort of their couch can stream the games on ECHL.TV, with series passes going for $39.99 + single game options at $9.99.
If you’re more “paint my chest and scream alongside thousands of excited strangers” — first, you’re our kind of people — and second, you’ll have to wait for any Kelly Cup Finals info until after tonight’s Eastern Conference match.
Don’t worry, we’ll keep an eye on the ice and let you know as soon as tickets drop.
