Is anyone clocking the pigskin-shaped bar cabinet? | Rendering via 1587 Prime
Reservations open today for 1587 Prime, the high-heat collab from Patrick Mahomes + Travis Kelce. Think of it as the ultimate off-season side quest — except instead of touchdowns, they’re serving tomahawk steaks.
Housed inside downtown’s Loews Hotel, the two-story spot is going all in. Imagine strutting through a stadium-tunnel-inspired entrance straight into a 10-ft meat display, with red marble accents, and a grand piano for nightly live tunes. Private dining rooms? Check. VIP entrance? Obviously.
Oh, and the grand opening happens to land right on Mahomes’ 30th birthday, so we wouldn’t be surprised if you caught a glimpse of the GOAT celebrating upstairs.
Hungry for more? Think “Eras Tour” ticket drop — click like your steak depends on it when reservations go live at 12 p.m.

Okay, confession time: I thought “Sawtooth” sounded like a fake-out too, but 44% of you knew better and nailed it as a true KC native. Consider me impressed.
The rest of the guesses — Moon Walker (33%), Giant Russian (15%), and Teddy Bear (7%) — might look cute in a bouquet, but they’re imports that don’t pack the same ecological punch. Native sunflowers like the Sawtooth are the hometown heroes: tough enough for our soil, stingy with water, and beloved by pollinators.
Thinking about turning your own yard into a sunflower stage? The Missouri Prairie Foundation’s Grow Native! database is basically Tinder for plants — searchable by sunlight, soil type, bloom season, color, and even wildlife value.
I may be years past homework, but growing up in a family of teachers means August still triggers those “oops, forgot the test” nightmares.
For the real-deal students + teachers, Mildred’s is sweetening Friday, Aug. 22 with free cookies from 3-5 p.m. Perfect after-school fuel, in my opinion.
