Varsity Club + Disco Burger, 317 Delaware St., KCMO | Spring 2024 | This laid-back cocktail lounge will serve as a permanent location for the popular smash burger pop-up.

Sushi Kodawari, 2100 Central St., KCMO | Spring 2024 | Kansas City’s first omakase-style sushi restaurant will feature just eight seats, and no set menu.

Carne Diem, 4179 N. Mulbery Dr., KCMO | Spring 2024 | This butcher and seafood counter will offer gourmet grab-and-go meal kits, deli selections, and cooking workshops.

Night Goat, 2139 Summit St., KCMO | Summer 2024 | Located in the basement of Fox & Pearl, this weekly barbecue pop-up will start serving five nights a week.

Jars by Fabio Viviani, 4937 W. 119th St., Overland Park, KS | Summer 2024 | The two-time “Top Chef” contestant will open the first metro location for his single-serving jar dessert concept.

  • Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce will partner with Las Vegas-based Noble 33 to open a steakhouse in Loews Hotel downtown. Called 1587 Prime, plans include 10,000 sqft over two floors, street level access + a 2025 opening. Who knows — maybe we’ll win another Super Bowl by then. (FOX4)
Award
  • Kansas City was named one of 25 Bloomberg American Sustainable Cities, part of an initiative to support climate resiliency + economic growth in the metro. The program will grant the metro access to Bloomberg’s $400 billion to fund projects in disadvantaged communities and elsewhere.

  • Offensive lineman Nick Allegretti, punter Tommy Townsend, and linebacker Willie Gay Jr. have left the Chiefs. Players thanked KC in a series of warm-and-fuzzy farewells. (Kansas City Star)

  • Zona Rosa will host its Spring Fest on Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free, family-friendly event will feature photos with the Easter bunny, kids activities, pop-ups, and food trucks, plus a Pop-Tart donation drive for Feed Northland Kids.
Kansas Citians
  • High school students from Raytown’s Herndon Career Center culinary team will represent Missouri at the National Pro Start Invitational, where pupils from across the country will compete before industry leaders. Show your support by visiting the Cinder student restaurant. (KSHB)
