• Out with the old — Kansas City approved a $17.5 million contract to demolish the old KCI terminals. The former Terminals B and C will be torn down ASAP to make way for apron space + deicing pads. Don’t worry, the parking garages will remain intact. (FOX4)

• In other news brought to you by Oscar the Grouch, the City of KCMO will spend $8.5 million to purchase 170,000 trash carts. Residents will no longer be asked to leave trash bags on the curb and will instead use 65 gallon bins. Bin distribution is projected to begin in October. (Kansas City Star)

• Snaps for KC. Last week, the city named its first ever poet laureate: Melissa Ferrer Civil. She will now serve as the ambassador for poetry + art throughout the community. (Kansas City Star)

• Here’s some head bobbling fun for ya — the Negro League Baseball Museum released mystery bobblehead boxes to commemorate Black History Month. Possible bobbleheads include legends like Satchel Paige, Hank Aaron, and Cool Papa Bell. Prices start at $20, with all proceeds supporting the museum. (FOX4)

• Look into the light, just this one time. Making its Super Bowl debut is a 9+ story sculpted torch designed by KC’s Dimensional Innovations (the same people who make the hearts for the Parade of Hearts). It will stand center stage in Allegiant Stadium and contains ~35,000 lbs of raw aluminum. (Startland News)

• Kiddos and parents need a place to play? Just wait until May. That’s when Hümanette is scheduled to open in Brookside at 118 W. 63rd St. The parent-forward, child-focused play cafe will serve coffee, small plates, beer, wine + mimosas (adults only, sorry kids).
