“Cheers to new beginnings and even better beer!”

This was the message from Vine Street Brewing Co. last week, when the brewery announced it was being awarded $25,000 in funding from the Kansas City G.I.F.T program.

Vine Street, which opened over the summer in Kansas City’s historic 18th & Vine district, is Missouri’s first Black-owned brewery.

G.I.F.T awards two grants each quarter (up to $25,000) to Black-owned businesses in specific regions of Kansas City, MO — focusing on those that operate in economically disadvantaged areas.

The brewery plans to use the funds to expand its production capacity through purchasing a fifth fermenter, building a brand-new cold room and investing in workforce development and training.

Want to help celebrate? Vine Street Brewing Co.'s First Pour Club Hangout event is set for tomorrow night from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
