Maybe sooner than you thought. The Pennway Point entertainment district’s skyline addition will open this fall. The KC Wheel will stand at 150-ft tall, with 36 climate-controlled gondolas rotating year-round. (KSHB41)

Missouri has a new distracted driving law. Drivers are not allowed to hold phones, send or read text messages, watch videos, or make calls while behind the wheel. Hands-free phone use is still allowed. Law enforcement hopes this will lower distracted driving-related accidents. (FOX4)

The Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens’ $23 million visitors center project is officially complete. The LongHouse will open on Saturday, Sept. 9. The new space features a cafe and gift shop, plus rental spaces for weddings, corporate meetings, and community events. (KMBC)

Garth Brooks has friends in Kansas City. The country music star visited Kauffman Stadium yesterday to share a big announcement: SEVENS Radio. This platform will feature several stations, curated by Garth himself, with a goal of putting sports and music together on air. (KMBC)
