You may know that Boulevardia will feature national acts like Tech N9ne, honestav, and the Greeting Committee — but it isn’t just a music festival.

Taps & Tastes will bring 40+ breweries from across the nation to sample craft beers alongside snacks from KC chefs at Crown Center. Not sure how to navigate the “pop-up party nation”? We’ll be your tour guides.

When + where

This year’s fest is one day only, so prepare for marathon of music and food on Saturday, June 14. Taps & Tastes general admission runs 1-4 p.m., but early admission gets you in an hour earlier.

Breweries will set up at the Crown Center Exhibition Hall, apart from the main festival but within easy walking distance.
  • Crown Center parking will be free all day Saturday on a first come first served basis. Access the garages at Pershing Road and McGee Street or Grand Boulevard and 25th Street.
  • Better yet, park up north and take the streetcar (We still like the NFL Draft parking map made by VisitKC).

What your ticket gets you

A $85 ticket gets you your keepsake glass and unlimited food and drink tastings. Early bird tickets cost $125. Plus, a Taps & Tastes ticket includes a festival pass.

City Council seeks input on renaming Troost

Kansas City government leaders are considering changing the name of Troost Avenue.

In 2022, multiple petitions were posted to Change.org requesting Troost Avenue be renamed. One petition authored by Chris Goode, owner of Ruby Jean’s Kitchen and Juicery, gained traction last June and brought the conversation to the forefront.

City Council is considering changes in accordance with resolution 230441 passed in September 2020. This resolution requires removal of memorials and symbolic monuments of people who “enslaved persons, promoted racism, or participated in the oppression or dehumanization of others.”

In May 2023, City Council moved to obtain input from Kansas Citians on the topic.

You can join the conversation by taking City Council’s survey. Before you do, verify your city district.

I can’t believe none of us have talked about our Joe’s order before. Ask me again in a month, but right now I’m getting the Rocket Pig. On the side, as much of the fry seasoning as they’ll let me shove in my face.
