🚊 Tour of Kansas City: streetcar edition

Things to do along the Kansas City Streetcar route

A colorful Streetcar sits diagonally on the road with the downtown Kansas City skyline in the distance.

The Kansas City Streetcar runs a 2.2-mile route — connecting the River Market to Union Station and Crown Center with 16 total stops to help Kansas Citians around the downtown area.

The streetcar is entirely free, allowing for spending at the local restaurants, bars, and shops along the route. Unsure where to stop and shop? We have you covered.

Union Station | Pershing Road and Main Street

Eat: Chow down on a New York Strip at Pierpoint’s.
Drink: Sip on an iced vanilla latte at Parisi.
See: Check out a show at the Planetarium.

Crossroads | 19th and Main Streets

Drink: Try a craft beer at Casual Animal (Editor Travis’ favorite) or Brewery Imperial (Editor Bella’s favorite).
Eat: Grab a deli sandwich at King G — we recommend the pastrami on rye.
Entertain: Stop by Grinders KC to see local, regional, and national performing acts (plus, there’s pizza).

Power & Light District | 14th and Main Streets

Try This: Whether you are a hardcore basketball fan or just a casual watcher, the College Basketball Experience is a must-see.
Film: Enjoy an elevated movie night at the B&B Theaters.
Drink: There is no shortage of places to grab a drink at the KC Live! Block — we recommend Howl at the Moon or No Other Pub.

Library | 9th and Main Streets

Eat: Milwaukee Delicatessen Company is a KC classic, dating back to 1881.
See: Going to the KC Public Library is a given at this stop, but make sure to take a photo outside the iconic bookshelf parking garage.
Drink: Sip on a coffee and be productive with your work BFF at Spokes.

River Market West | 4th and Delaware

Outdoors: Head over to the Riverfront Heritage Trail which connects the River Market with Berkley Riverfront, the West Bottoms, the Westside, and Strawberry Hill.
Drink: Grab a beverage at the Made In KC Trolley Cafe before strolling around the neighborhood.
Shop: If you’re a lover of all things vintage, River Market Antique Mall is the place for you.
