Today is the second best day of the year (next to the Super Bowl, of course) — the Super Bowl celebration parade. The team is back home in the 816, one Lombardi Trophy richer, and they’re ready to get the party started. First, there’s a few things you should know about today before hitting the streets to celebrate.

Timeline

12-1:30 p.m. — Parade starts at 6th Street and Grand Boulevard, heading south on Grand Boulevard, west on Pershing Road, north on Main, and wrapping up at Union Station.
1:45-2:45 p.m. — Rally at Union Station

The official rally is estimated to last one hour, but expect downtown KC to be celebrating most of the day.

Transit must knows

Many street closures were already in effect as of yesterday, and all patrons should be wary of significant travel delays for most of today. Information on shuttles, streetcar stops, and buses can be found here. The streets running east and west of Grand Blvd will be closed between Walnut + McGee Street — from the Berkley Riverfront on the north to Pershing Road on the south.

Check this out

The first 1,248 fans to visit the Tailgate Station at Boulevard Brewing Company can enjoy a complimentary Unfiltered Wheat beer thanks to offensive lineman Creed Humphrey. The parking lot party (at 2534 Madison Ave., KCMO) opens at 10 a.m.

The Power & Light District is keeping the Red Kingdom party going + showing parade coverage on the big screen starting at 10 a.m. — open for all ages. No entry fee or tickets are required.

The rally near Union Station begins at 1:45 — but don’t forget that Union Station attractions will be closed all day, so you’ll need to keep the photo-ops outside of the building.

Thank you to Lily Floral Designs for the gorgeous bouquet. | Photo via Susan B.
What better way to spread love on Valentine’s Day than with the help of a local KC business?

Last week we asked you, our beloved readers, to help us gift a special V-Day flower bouquet to give to someone for Valentine’s Day. Whether it be a partner, friend, or even a family member — our goal was to do something nice for someone else with the help of a local business — paying it forward.

We put out a call for your flower shop recommendations, and naturally you showed up with answers, which led us to picking our random winner, reader Susan B. Susan gifted the bouquet (courtesy of Lily Floral Designs) to her sister-in-law Missy — check out the exchange.

“She absolutely loved the flowers, and I had so much fun surprising her! Thank you again!” — Susan B.
