Looking for a vibrant neighborhood with no shortage of entertainment, shopping, and restaurants? We know a place — and it’s formally known as the Crossroads Arts District. From vintage shops to brewery hops, this KC neighborhood has a full day’s worth (or two) of things to do.
Before it was called the Crossroads, the area was considered part of Midtown — or less excitingly, “the area between Downtown and Crown Center.” When an influx of galleries came in 1980s, the name Crossroads Arts District became the status quo, with a new neighborhood association making it official in 2001.

Here’s some fresh news. Kansas City was ranked the No. 48 cleanest city in the US by InsureMyTrip.
The travel insurance comparison site looked at government and consumer data sets, comparing data on hand sanitizer demand, restaurant cleanliness, recycling collector quantity, garbage disposal satisfaction, electric vehicle market share, and particulate matter pollution to reach its findings.
InsureMyTrip then standardized the data and gave each city a score between 0 and 10, with 0 being the worst and 10 being the best — except for particulate matter pollution, where 10 represents the least polluted. Here’s how KC scored:
Hand sanitizer demand: 0.24
Restaurant cleanliness: 2.67
Recycling collector quantity: 0.63
Garbage disposal satisfaction: 6.17
Electric vehicle market share: 0.51
Particulate matter pollution: 7.89
KC’s overall score was 3.02. San Diego (No. 2), Oklahoma City (No. 30), and Houston (No. 36) were also featured onthe list.
THE WRAP

Editor’s pick: I recently tried out Novella, the new coffee spot in the West Bottoms. I ordered my go-to drink, a vanilla latte with oat milk — which did not disappoint — but the shining star was definitely the chocolate croissant.
