When people decide to get into running, it can be an uphill battle without some help: What routes are safe? Which paths have the least amount of incline? And don’t get us started about all the different types of shoes on the market...

That’s why running clubs are so helpful. Whether you’re a newbie full of questions or a longtime runner looking for a little fun, these groups offer expertise and camaraderie in one go.

816 Run Club | Saturdays, 7:30 a.m. | Crossroads | This “all distances” club is perfect for runners of any pace — whether you’re logging two miles or twenty.

Kansas City Running Club | Daily, times vary | Multiple locations | The most comprehensive club on the list, with small groups running in neighborhoods across the metro. Don’t miss the “Easy Like Sunday Morning” loops at Loose Park.
