Hey Kansas Citians, Travis + Krit here. Between the two of us, we get the privilege of sharing local news, events, and conversations with 80,000+ readers in Kansas City, daily — here, and on our socials.

After 7+ months KCtoday, we thought we should reintroduce ourselves. After all, there are a lot of new faces around here between y’all and us.

Q: What were the last 3 things you did downtown?

A: I walked down to the heart on the Town of Kansas Bridge, then I brunched at Tribe, and later I had a beer at River Bluff.

Q: What building in KC do you want to see revitalized + what would you do with it?

A: The Imperial Brewery building — off I-35 at Southwest Boulevard. With views of downtown that good, I’d turn the top floor + roof into an event space, the middle sections into housing, and the bottom floor into… well, a brewery.

Q: What menu item from a local restaurant are you kinda wanting to keep secret, but also kinda wanting to share?

A: My personal Betty Rae’s float combinations: Thou Mayest Coffee ice cream + cream soda = vanilla latte. Chocolate ice cream + cherry soda = cherry bon bon.

Q: If you were taking someone on a tour around Kansas City, where are the three places you’re going?

A: We’ll start the day with coffee + tamales at Café Corazón. Then, we’ll stay in the Crossroads for some local shopping at places like Christopher Elbow Chocolates and Do Good Co.. We’ll end the morning by taking the KC Streetcar to the River Market for lunch at Habashi House.

Q: What’s something every new Kansas Citian oughta know about?

A: People will start asking you what your favorite barbecue spot is, and you’ll have to make sure you have the right answer.

Q: Hit us with your favorite piece of local trivia

A: Walt Disney designed UMKC’s original Kasey the Kangaroo mascot.
