Meet Madison 👋🏻

Q: If you could only write about one KC-specific topic for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: History! From the turn of the century to the new millenium, I’m fascinated by locals’ memories of our city’s (semi-) recent past. My explainer on Petticoat Lane is my favorite article so far.

Q: You’re taking someone on a date in Kansas City. Where are you going?

A: We’ll grab a slice at Waldo’s Pizza, swing by Boomerang to look for some vintage threads (dibs on the bellbottoms) + finish off the night with a screening at Stray Cat Film Center. If all goes well, we’ll keep the night going with a Kansas City Coffee at the Green Lady Lounge.

Q: Describe Kansas City’s personality in three words.

A: Authentic, exciting + home.

Meet Charmaine 👋🏾

Q: Describe your perfect day in Kansas City.

A: I enjoy freshly brewed tea before playing tennis at Roanoke Park. Next, I barge into Prospero’s Books to fuel my book hoarding habit. Then, it’s retro gaming at Up-Down. Afterwards, my husband and I picnic at a park while the KC Symphony plays from their mobile music box.

Q: You’re ordering a drink from Kansas City-coffee shop/bar: What’s in it?

A: I’m most likely at Cafe Cà Phê ordering a Refresh T’Death tea. It’s a chamomile tea + lemonade mixture livened with hibiscus, mango, apple, and lychee syrup.

Q: What were the last 3 things you did downtown?

A: I went to the new Donutology trolley cafè, remote worked in Thou Mayest, and shot a commercial in the WeWork buidling.

Now that we’re all BFFs, feel free to send us a message to share news, events + more with us (or just say hello).
