KC Strong has officially dispersed its $2 million fund

The money came from 4,000+ donors who poured out their KC hearts following the shooting at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade.

The Super Bowl parade victims are still healing.

Yesterday, ~$2 million were distributed by United Way’s KC Strong fund to support victims of the Super Bowl Parade shooting.

Twenty verified gunshot victims were directly paid between $22-$100 thousand, totaling $1.2 million. Fourteen organizations working in the areas of mental health services, violence prevention, and first responder aid were granted ~$832 thousand.

United Way President and CEO Chris Rosson said the delay in distribution was due to the thorough verification process, as they wanted to be sure the funds from 4,000+ donors were handled appropriately.

“To each and every person who donated, conducted fundraisers, used their voice to raise awareness and advocated for KC Strong, thank you,” said Rosson. “This effort is emblematic of the power of our community. We are forever KC Strong.”
