About the parks

Editor Charmaine here. Recently, I asked you all what other attractions should be added to the Pennway Point + KC Wheel area. I suggested a dog park. Lo and behold, it turns out this is already in the works.

Say hello to CITYDOGs KC.

Looks like there will be parking spots available, too.

Its new location is scheduled to open by the end of this year at 2401 Summit St., KCMO — just a quarter mile from the KC Wheel, right behind La Bodega. This pooch paradise will be larger than its counterpart and double as a park for people. Let’s take a closer sniff.

The dog parks

CITYDOGs KC will feature both an indoor and an outdoor dog park, making it all-weather fortified. Its outdoor park will be divided into six areas for different sized dogs.

On a rainy or hot day, dogs can chill at the indoor park instead.

The furry facility will include:

  • Dog park attendants
  • Doggy daycare
  • Boarding
  • Grooming
  • Training
  • Dog pick-up and drop-off

The dogs will even have a seesaw. How cute.

The people park

At opening, humans can relax in the pavilion after a ruff day and cut their K9s on local draft beers provided by Touring Taps. Food trucks will rotate regularly. Like-minded dog lovers can gather for events such as breed meet-ups and Chiefs watch parties.

Here’s a birds’ eye view of the indoor and outdoor park area. Take a look at the top left corner to find the people park.

But what made founder Erin Dean choose this location, you ask?

“Whenever you’re in a city there’s no green space,” Dean said. “I think there’s just a huge need for it, especially with Kansas City growing rapidly.”

Prices will start at $5 for day passes, $25 for monthly subscriptions. But watch its Instagram for founder’s specials which will drop soon.
