Soon everyone can be pampered on the Plaza — and we mean everyone. Sojourn Spa, an accessibility-first space, will open in January 2024 inside the new Cascade Hotel (4600 Wornall Rd., KCMO).

What does it mean to be accessibility-first?

When we say “accessibility-first,” we mean the space was designed from conception to be ADA-compliant. City Editor Charmaine spoke with co-owner Ashley McClellan who said she wanted to provide accessible wellness for everyone.

“I have a background in health. Accessibility is a focus in that world,” said McClellan. She’s a former hospital CEO and medical executive. “So it was important to me to make sure this space was accessible.”

Accessible feature highlights

Sojourn Spa will have eight treatment rooms + two saunas. Within those spaces, guests will find:

  • Some of the first ADA-compliant massage tables in the country which can lower + saunas with low benches, making self-transfers easy.
  • The massage table will also be accessible for bodies of all shapes and sizes, having built-in functions like adjusting for baby bellies, so expectant mothers can comfortably + safely lay on their front sides.
