Lights, camera...action? B&B Theatres is ready to open its new downtown KC location in the former Alamo Drafthouse at 1400 Main Street. The historic Mainstreet Theater closed during the pandemic under Alamo Drafthouse. That’s when Liberty-based + family-owned B&B Theatres stepped up to the big screen and devoted ~1 year to renovating the historic building.

So, what kind of renovations are we talking about here?

🎥 Heated, electric reclining chairs with improved sightlines
🎥 Chaise lounge seating in the front row of every auditorium
🎥 The B&B Grand Screena large, curved screen that stretches wall to wall
🎥 Expanded concessions, including made-to-order hot items — think: burgers + popcorn chicken

Johnnie’s Jazz Bar & Grillan ode to the Bagby family’s grandmother — enhanced the downstairs space. The bar will serve a variety of cocktails and offer ~80 assortments of bourbon. The downstairs stage will feature live performances from jazz, trivia, and karaoke, to music theater Mondays.

The theater hopes to open its doors Thursday night. The grand opening is dependent on delayed inventory, miscellaneous furniture, and finishing touches. The theater’s October movie lineup includes “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” and “No Time To Die.”
