The potential $61 million redevelopment of a vacant Kmart property in Northland took a step forward this week as Port Authority of Kansas City commissioners appear to be on board with incentives for the project. Learn the ins and outs. (Kansas City Business Journal)

Chef Pyet DeSpain will visit KC’s Café Corazón next week for a book signing with food, music + more, marking the release of “Rooted in Fire: A Celebration of Native American and Mexican Cooking.” DeSpain — who won season one of Gordon Ramsay’s “Next Level Chef” — is a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation whose love of food started in “her family’s taquerias in Kansas City,” according to her website.

The Native American History Month event will be held on Friday, Nov. 28 at 110 Southwest Blvd. starting at 3 p.m. and is free to attend.
