Check this out: Fodor’s Travel just named the Kansas City Public Library’s Central branch the No. 7 most beautiful library in the US. It’s easy to see why. Step beyond the 1906 First National Bank facade to find marble interiors, the Stanley H. Durwood Film Vault (the original bank vault), and a green rooftop terrace with skyline views.

Think libraries are just for books? In addition to comics, movies, music, events, and even orchestral performance sets, here are five more things to check out at your local library.

News Notes

Mansion Monday

We love timeless luxury — like this five-bedroom, eight-bathroom Sunset Hill estate. Take a tour of its gourmet kitchen with hidden appliances and dual dishwashers, plus an outdoor oasis with pool and heated pergola for year-round entertaining.

Holiday

Sundown tonight marks the beginning of Rosh Hashanah. The celebration runs until sundown on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Celebrate the new year by sending your loved ones a bouquet from local florist, Crestwood Flowers.

Film

Calling all Studio Ghibli fans. The historic animation house is currently celebrating 40 years of timeless storytelling with Studio Ghibli Fest, featuring movie theater screenings of its most famous films. “Howl’s Moving Castle” is playing through Wednesday, Sept. 24, and “Spirited Away” is screening next month. Find KC’s participating theaters.

Number

85,700. That’s the estimated number of farms in Missouri, according to a new study by Visual Capitalist. Support local growers and eat farm-to-table by shopping at one of Kansas City’s farmers markets this weekend.

Cause

Host and comedian Nate Bargatze donated $250,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of America during the 2025 Emmys, using length of acceptance speeches to determine the amount donated. Luckily for us, there’s no time limit on giving back to Kansas City’s local chapter. (USA Today)

Today Is

The autumnal equinox, which means fall officially arrives at 2:19 p.m. The leaves may still be green for now, but when you’re ready to look for changing colors, we recommend hitting a local trail.

Weather

La Niña may be on the horizon. The National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center forecasts a 71% chance of the weather system from October to December. In Kansas City, this climate cycle usually brings warmer + wetter weather while in effect. (USA Today)

Concert

Rising country star Caleb Lee Hutchinson is playing at Tin Roof Kansas City on Friday, Oct. 10 for Nashville Hits the Roof. Past Tin Roof artists include Luke Bryan, Dierks Bently, and Florida Georgia Line. RSVP to the free show + discover your new favorite artist.*
Athleta’s Friends + Family Sale just dropped — find pieces that take you from early morning workouts to weekend coffee runs with 30% off the whole site (yes, everything).*
