Here’s a wheelie good date-night idea. | Photo by NOOGAtoday
It seems like every reality dating show features a sensual pottery wheel date. That got us wondering: where can we go to pretend we’re on “Temptation Island”... sans camera crew, drama, and — unfortunately — the tropical backdrop?
Here are three local ceramics studios where you can get behind the wheel for a romantic night out:
Belger Arts| 2011 Tracy Ave., KCMO | $100
Date Night Wheel Throwing happens most Friday and Saturday nights, with additional specialty date options like a planter-making class this Saturday, Aug. 9 at 6:30 p.m.
Driftwood Ceramics| 1827 Buchanan St., NKC | $45 each
Every Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m., BYOB to Driftwood’s Pots & Pints date-night class.
Epic Arts| 609 N. 6th St., KCK | $65-85
Sign up for handbuilding on Saturday, Aug. 16, or wait until Friday, Sept. 12 for a wheel class — those fill up fast. Pro tip: Epic also has a Queer Clay Club and a discount for Wyandotte County residents.

Credit actually goes to my wife for today’s story about date-night pottery classes. She’s interested in picking it up as a hobby, so I figured I’d do a little research. Maybe she’ll let me tag along sometime.
