This summer is packed with exciting events — like postgame summer concerts. Stick around after the final pitch for an epic night of music under the lights featuring international superstar Flo Rida on Saturday, July 26 and rising country music sensation Ty Myers on Saturday, Aug. 16.

  • Bark at the Park on Tuesday, Sept. 16 (yes, furry friends are welcome)

KCtoday_KC Fringe

There’s something for everyone, just be sure to check the ratings before you bring the kids.

With some of my favorite entertainers already prepping for next month’s Edinburgh Fringe, I figured it was finally time to dive into the uncensored, indie chaos of KC Fringe — our own two-week marathon of performance, film, visual art, and more. Not sure where to start? Do as your newsletter editor does and swing by the free KC Fringe Preview at the Plaza Library tonight.

I’ll be fine-tuning my itinerary after the preview, but here are a few shows already on my radar:
  • “An Anarchy Heist Show” and “Chatelaine Gaze” — from some KCtoday events calendar regulars
  • “Every Picture Tells a Story: Films of the IFCKC” — because my film nerd heart can’t resist
  • “KCCAT Presents The Weirdos Comedy Hour II” — like a grainy, nostalgic return to community access TV
  • KC Fringe Benefits Gallery at Gael’s Public House — a happy hour-friendly art stroll in my own neighborhood

The Wrap

As I write this, it’s lunchtime — and I had to drop everything to gush about a new coffeehouse crush: 1888 Coffee. The turkey fig melt (boursin, arugula, fig jam) nearly had me crying into the bistro basket it came in, and my iced Dubai Dream with pistachio cold foam? A caffeinated dream come true.
