KC Boulevard beer
You can’t spell Boulevardia without... well, Boulevard. | Photo by @triberivermarket
Warmer temps hitting Kansas City have us craving patio beers and festival vibes. Lucky for us, Boulevardia is less than two months away — meaning we’re officially T-minus 51 days from its epic 10th-anniversary bash, featuring beers, bites, and all the local flavor we can handle.

One major highlight? Taps & Tastes, the ultimate food-and-beer sampling experience. On Saturday, June 17, sip your way through 40+ breweries while local KC chefs dish out tasty snacks.

What your ticket gets you

General admission runs 1-4 p.m., but early birds get in at 12 p.m. For $85, score unlimited food and drink tastings, a keepsake glass, and access to the main festival. Want the VIP experience? Early access tickets are $125.

You’ll find local favorites like Boulevard and Alma Mader Brewing — and some offerings from further afield. Find brews from:

News Notes

“A bet with the rival team’s mayor is now a Super Bowl tradition for Mayor Quinton Lucas of this city; his fave wager? Barbecue.” That was a question on Tuesday’s edition of “Jeopardy,” one that apparently earned contestant Liam Starnes a separate saucy prize. Say it with me now: What is Kansas City?

Opening

A neighborhood lounge is popping up in the Garment District, featuring “comfort cocktails” and classic bar fare with a twist (chips + caviar, anyone?). Something Good — styled after the owner’s first concept, Columbia’s Son of a Gun — is set to open in mid-May, just in time to savor summer sunsets where everybody knows your name... (The Pitch)

The Wrap

My high school swim team days sank quickly, which is how I found my true calling in newspaper club. These days, I’m trading the press pass for pads with Fountain City Roller Derby — and maybe testing the waters with a free learn-to-play lesson at La Casa del Padel... though if my tennis attempts at Loose Park say anything, I’ll probably stick to wheels.

Which is the oldest fountain in Kansas City?

26%. Perhaps you all were thrown off by yesterday’s splashy festivities, but that’s how many of you correctly named the Fountain Basin inside the Nelson-Atkins’ Rozzelle Court as the city’s most ancient. And we mean ancient — while it was installed in 1933, the basin itself is dated to 220 A.D.
