It’s a fact — food just tastes better outside. When the weather takes a turn for the better, you’ll find us at one of these patios + rooftops across the metro.

ICYMI — Kansas City Manager Brian Platt was unanimously ousted by City Council last week, leaving Kimiko Gilmore to continue as acting city manager. Turns out, this may or may not be a trend in KCMO. (The Beacon)
Watch
Here’s how to watch Chiefs football in the off season: turn on ESPN’s six-episode docuseries exploring the team’s 65-year history + killer 2024 season. Set to debut on ESPN and Disney+ later this year, we’re imagining a “Hard Knocks” with less angst and just as much drama. (FOX4)
Mansion Monday
Talk about prime time Plaza lights viewing. A 3-bedroom, 4-bathroom luxury penthouse is on the market in the Country Club Plaza. Take a tour of the 4,513-sqft home that overlooks Brush Creek and features a wood-paneled library, Sub-Zero double refrigerators, a 24-hour doorman, and 2,814-sqft of private outdoor terraces.
Eat
You’ve sat down for hearty meals at Pegah’s Family Restaurant, now get your order to go with new drive-thru concept Pegah’s Cafe & Coffee. Expect the same menu at this Martin City spot with a few additions, like the Very Berry Toast and KC Steak Bowl, alongside a full coffee and espresso selection. (Kansas City Star)
Sports
And that’s a wrap. K-State lost 67-61 to No. 1 seed USC in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament over the weekend. Despite the defeat, the Wildcats tied for their second-most wins in school history, capping off a season to remember.
Feel Good
When 8-year-old Chiefs fan Elena Easley was told, “Girls can’t play football,” she didn’t just brush it off — she went viral. On Saturday, the Minnesota native + her family visited KC as special guests at the season opener for the Kansas City Glory, the metro’s semi-professional women’s full-contact tackle football team. (Kansas City Star)
Transit
Even with additional funding in the city’s 2025-2026 budget, the Kansas City Area Transit Authority may still have to majorly scale back operations. City Council will consider a stopgap ordinance next week, but it expects changes — like a return to bus fare — in return. (KCTV5)
Closed
After five years, Big Mood Natural Wine shuttered its Crossroads spot near the historic Freight House on Sunday. Known for Thirst Trap tastings + eclectic label offerings, its owners announced the closure on social media, bidding goodbye to its “fans, friends, and haters.”

One of the first developments I covered for KCtoday is finally serving up some action. City officials have been eyeing three to four development proposals — apartment complexes that maintain the Plaza’s bowl shape intact — for the Plaza Tennis Center. But don’t raise your rackets just yet, whoever wins the bid will have to find a new home for the sports complex.
