We have a goal to raise $4,000 for KCtoday over the next nine days. Support our positive, hyper-local approach to storytelling with a donation. We love you, Kansas City.

It’s about time we talked about KC happy hours, folks. No matter if you’re grabbing a quick beer after work or just want to have a chill hangout while going easy on the wallet, we’ve got this round.
Here are 28 places around town pouring the best deals right now in the City of Fountains — so drink up and be merry.
Beer lovers
The Blue Line | Mon.-Fri., 3-6 p.m. | It’s Kansas City’s only bar made for hockey-lovers, which means a round of $3.50 domestic drafts always come out ice cold.
Dodson’s Bar + Commons | Sun.-Fri., 4-6 p.m. | Whether you’re waiting for your Cosmo Burger order, or (like Editor Maddie) love sipping Gimlets while watching its non-stop re-runs of “The Price is Right,” enjoy $2 off its extensive list of cocktails, beer, and wine.
Its 20% discount makes up for the fact that this “happy meal” deal comes without a toy.

Hear the music? That’s probably Warehouse on Broadway, Westport’s newest restaurant and music venue debuting next month. The 650-capacity club is one-of-a-kind for KC, according to owner Neill Smith — its unique size geared towards attracting live acts who have otherwise skipped over the metro. Check out its lineup. Arts
“Wicked,” “Kimberly Akimbo,” “Hamilton,” “The Book of Mormon,” “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast”... and that’s just part of the lineup for PNC Broadway in Kansas City’s 2025-2026 season. Check out the full schedule, along with how to ensure you snag a seat with The Pitch’s overview.
Transit
After years of congestion and construction, 69 Highway’s new toll lanes are set to open by the end of 2025. What does this mean for your morning commute? Read the Johnson County Post’s breakdown of the project timeline, including upcoming roadwork around I-435.
Development
Construction is paused on the American Royal’s new WyCo digs. The nonprofit “outpaced financing” for the project and is currently renegotiating with local government for access to STAR bonds. Until then, we’re imagining 390,000 sqft of saucy goodness and free smells inside the “World Series of Barbecue’s” future home. (KCBJ)
Closed
The Drunken Worm is closed — and it looks like it’s for good. After initially shuttering in 2023, the West 39th tequila-focused bar reopened last spring. Now, door signs and Facebook listings mark it as “permanently closed,” though no official announcement has been made. (Kansas City Star)

I’ve mentioned it in the Wrap more than a few times, this long-shot hero’s journey I’ve undertaken. What is this quest, you ask? To get my hands on one, singular Slow Rise sourdough donut — something I’ve waited in hours-long lines for before to no avail. With a brick-and-mortar on the horizon, it looks like my morning munchies may see brighter days soon enough.
