Development

City officials have received plans for a 30,000-sqft expansion of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, featuring enhanced exhibit space as well as a connected 80-room, seven-story hotel. If you haven’t check out its current digs yet, admission is free throughout February in celebration of Black History Month. (KCBJ)

Sports

It’s official: while the parade will continue as usual, there will be no public rally if the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIX. Players and their families, along with Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe and Mayor Quinton Lucas, will have a private celebration at Arrowhead Stadium before making their way to a specially designed parade route. (FOX4)

Bye-bye 54th Street, hello Five Four Restaurant and Drafthouse. The local chain has taken up a new identity and shuttered its original bar and grill location at 815 SE Third St. after 30 years. Two new spots are set to open in Lee’s Summit and Lenexa, featuring new outdoor amenities like pickleball. (Kansas City Star)
